£1.4m to tackle violence against women in south Wales
- Published
Safe spaces for women to report violence will be set up across south Wales after a £1.4m grant from the UK government.
The cash will also help create up to 30 community ambassadors to spot the signs of abuse against women and girls.
It was awarded after a bid by the office of South Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Alun Michael.
Welsh Secretary Alun Cairns said the funding would provide victims with "immediate support".
The grant is a share of £17m from the UK government's Violence Against Women and Girls Service Transformation Fund, to help prevent and address violence against women and girls.
