Bradley John has been described as "charismatic and wonderful"

An inquest into the death of a teenage boy at his school in Carmarthenshire has been opened and adjourned.

It is understood that Bradley John, who was 14 and from Ammanford, appeared to have taken his own life on Wednesday.

His father, Byron John, told BBC Wales his son was bullied during his time at St John Lloyd Catholic Comprehensive School in Llanelli.

The inquest was adjourned after the brief hearing at Milford Haven Town Hall.

Bradley's body was found by his younger sister Dani at the school.

The coroner for Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, Mark Layton, adjourned the inquest pending post-mortem test results.

Mr John said his son, an accomplished horse rider, had ADHD (attention deficit hyperactive disorder).

"Bullying at any level shouldn't ever happen," he told BBC Wales.

Carmarthenshire Council, which runs the school in partnership with the Diocese of Menevia, said it was "inappropriate to speculate on the circumstances".

Mr John claimed Bradley had also been bullied at Ysgol Dyffryn Aman comprehensive before moving to St John Lloyd.

A spokesman there said: "During his short time at the school, he was encouraged to reach his full potential. We are very saddened to hear of Bradley's death."

A further inquest hearing is expected to be held on 30 November.
