Firefighters tackled a large gorse blaze on a hillside in Snowdonia.

Crews were called to the 180-acre blaze near Llyn Cregennen at about 17:00 GMT on Thursday.

People living in the vicinity of Arthog, Gwynedd, were told to keep doors and windows closed while five fire crews fought late into the night to bring the blaze under control.

The fire was not fully out but there was no risk of it spreading, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service said.

Firefighters have left the scene and will return for an inspection on Friday morning.
