Swansea University fire: Emergency services tackle blaze at Bay campus

A fire has broken out at Swansea University's Bay campus.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) sent five appliances to the scene, as well as a water bowser and aerial appliance.

The university tweeted to say the fire had broken out, external in the engineering department and officials were co-operating with fire officers.

There were no reports of anyone inside the building, said MAWWFRS.

The fire service received a callout to the campus at Fabian Way on Wednesday at 18:08 BST.

It said the blaze was contained within a three-storey building, with the first floor, second floor and roof alight.

It sent appliances from Morriston, Swansea Central, Swansea West, Port Talbot and Tumble.An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once the incident has concluded.

The £450m Bay campus opened in 2015 near the border between Neath Port Talbot and Swansea council areas.
