Cardiff: Man charged with killing dad and trying to murder mum

Michael Gayle died at the scene of a serious assault in St Mellons on Friday

A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his father and attempted murder of his mother.

Garvey Gayle is accused of murdering Michael Gayle, and the attempted murder of Amanda Brookes in St Mellons on 16 October.

He appeared before Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday, and was remanded ahead of a bail hearing on 29 October.

A provisional date for the trial has been set in May 2021.
