Covid: Apprentices miss out as pandemic cuts work

James Aubrey has wanted to be a pilot for as long as he can remember.

The 22-year-old from Cardiff borrowed £100,000 to fund a two-year training course.

But his promising future is now uncertain - as the aviation industry has been one of the hardest hit by the pandemic.

As pilots are being laid off rather than being recruited, James has decided to look for a job in retail to keep up with his repayments.
