Coin for Space Oddity singer Bowie heads for the stars

Many of David Bowie's most famous songs talk of space and the extra-terrestrial.

Now the Royal Mint has paid tribute to this legacy by sending a coin commemorating the song writer high above Earth.

The Mint, based in Llantrisant, Rhondda Cynon Taf, launched the coin to an altitude of 35,656m (116,982ft).

It will now be offered as a competition prize.
