A second yellow warning for snow and ice was issued for Saturday evening
Sleet, snow and icy patches could cause difficult driving conditions in eastern Wales, the Met Office has warned.
A yellow warning covers parts of Monmouthshire, Powys and Wrexham until the end of Saturday.
Another warning for snow and ice covered much of north and mid Wales until 18:00 GMT.
North Wales Police had earlier advised motorists to avoid the A487 at Porthmadog, external, Gwynedd, following crashes caused by black ice.
Icy patches would be likely on Saturday evening, the Met Office said, with 1-2cm of snow possible in hilly areas.
