Flood and power cut warning as heavy rain to hit Wales
- Published
Homes could be hit by flooding and power cuts as heavy rain and gale force winds are set to batter parts of south and mid Wales.
The Met Office's amber warning, external for rain is in place from 20:00 GMT on Friday until 18:00 on Saturday.
The forecaster said some communities could be cut off by flooded roads and travel disruption was expected.
A second yellow warning - which is less severe - is in place for almost the whole of Wales until 02:00 on Sunday.
On Friday and into Saturday some areas could widely see up to up to 2.7in (70mm) of rain, with up to almost 8in (200mm) on the highest ground of the Brecon Beacons.
Eleven flood warnings, external - mainly in mid Wales - and a number of flood alerts have been issued by Natural Resources Wales, with the organisation saying river levels could rise during the prolonged downpours.
Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea and Torfaen are all covered by the amber warning.
The Met Office said heavy rain and wind could cause flooding, difficult driving conditions and fast flowing water could cause a "danger to life".
The yellow warning - which means the weather is likely to have some impact - is in place for almost all of Wales, apart from Anglesey and Flintshire.
