Two people have been stabbed following an incident in Cardiff city centre during the early hours of Sunday.

The men, both 21, are in a stable condition and police are hunting a group of males who were seen running from Kingsway at about 01:00 BST.

South Wales Police has appealed for witnesses to come forward.

The force said the incident is not believed to be linked to a separate stabbing early on Saturday where an 18-year-old man was injured.

Det Insp Matthew Cox, said: "We are investigating another serious assault in Cardiff city centre. On this occasion, two men were injured but thankfully both are currently in a stable condition.

"We have a team of officers working hard to identify who was responsible.

"Knife crime has devastating consequences and tackling this concerning issue is a priority for us.

"Our officers are patrolling the city centre and are exercising stop and search powers when they have grounds to do so."

Motorists have been advised to avoid Kingsway between junctions of Castle Street and Greyfriars Road as it remained closed on Sunday.
