Schools: Abertillery trial looks at a longer school day

A trial has taken place to see how well a slightly longer school day could work in practice.

Years five and six at Abertillery Learning Community in Blaenau Gwent spent 10 weeks having an extra hour bolted on to the end of their school day.

Pupils said it meant being able to spend more time with their friends and learning sports and new skills they would not normally do.

Some also said it helped them enjoy school more.
