Port Talbot 'would be 'dead' without its steelworks

They have been working steel in Port Talbot for well over a century.

The town's fortunes have fluctuated with the giant works that now employs about 4,000 people.

So it is little wonder people are gravely concerned at warnings from owners Tata Group that the site could close without government help.

"It will be dead. Port Talbot will be dead," said one resident.
