Weather: Four-day extreme heat warning for much of Wales

The warning covers much of eastern Wales and will last from Thursday to Sunday

An extreme heat warning issued by the Met Office will last four days and cover a large part of Wales.

Forecasters said temperatures up to 34C (94F) would be likely to cause travel delays and adverse health effects for those vulnerable to extreme heat.

The amber warning runs from first thing on Thursday until the end of Sunday.

It covers Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Newport, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Torfaen, Vale of Glamorgan, Blaenau Gwent and Wrexham.

BBC weather presenter Sue Charles said the second heatwave of the summer was "not likely to be as quite hot as in July but it is likely to last longer".

"Cardiff could see temperatures exceeding 30C (86F) for four or five consecutive days," she added.
