Motorists faced major delays after a two-vehicle crash on the M4 eastbound in Monmouthshire during rush hour.

Queues stretched from Junction 23 Magor Services through Newport to Junction 27 High Cross following the crash on Wednesday morning.

It caused big delays on M4 and led to congestion on other roads and delays of more than an hour at one point.

On Wednesday evening heavy traffic was being reported on the carriageway.

It came as rail passengers were advised not to travel on the south Wales mainline with services cut due to a strike.
