Wrexham: Global drug production site gets new £75m facility

A science plant in Wrexham that sells medicines across the globe will get a new "state of the art" £75m facility in the city, its owner has said.
Ipsen's largest site in the UK exports drugs for neurological conditions to more than 90 countries.
The firm said the investment will "enhance the production" on the site, which opened 50 years ago and employs 500 people.
Wrexham's mayor said the announcement marks a "significant milestone".
The facility in Wrexham Industrial Estate develops and manufactures medicines to treat neurological conditions.
This latest funding follows a £27million investment last year which was used to build a new drug manufacturing facility.
"Through the creation of numerous jobs over five decades, Ipsen's Wrexham site has contributed significantly to the growth of the local economy," said mayor Andy Williams at the event.
Ipsen is a global biopharmaceutical company which in 2022 saw sales of around £2.57bn.
It describes its Wrexham facility as a "neuroscience centre of excellence".
Ipsen boss, David Loew, said: "We have seen huge growth in demand at this important site, and we are pleased to continue our investment in the area and contribute positively to the local economy."
