Coal: Ffos-y-Fran mine told to stop digging coal within 28 days
A mine that should have stopped digging up coal last September has been given a further 28 days to shut down.
An enforcement notice telling Merthyr (South Wales) Ltd to end operations at Ffos-y-Fran came into effect on Tuesday.
Barristers for climate activists argued the Welsh government and Merthyr council could have stepped in sooner.
The mine operator has been approached for comment.
