Tributes have been paid to 92-year-old cyclist who died after a crash with a car.

John Symmonds, from Graigwen, Pontypridd, Rhondda Cynon Taf, was taken to hospital after the crash on Pen-Y-Wal Road in the town on 21 September, but later died.

His daughters thanked the emergency services and hospital staff.

They said he would be "greatly missed by both us and all the family" as well as his "many friends".

"We are so grateful for all the support and find comfort in all the kind words we have received," they said in a statement.

"Goodnight Dad. Rest in peace."

Mr Symmonds was on a black and turquoise Trek bike when he crashed with a black Ford Ranger pulling a trailer.

Both were travelling in the same direction from Llanwonno towards Pontypridd.

South Wales Police is still appealing for witnesses.
