A couple have been left in the lurch just 24 hours before their wedding day after one of south Wales' most well-known venues went into administration.

The administrators of Grade II-listed Miskin Manor in Pontyclun, Rhondda Cynon Taf, said events would be cancelled in the short-term.

RSM UK Management Ltd also said 27 of 63 employees had been made redundant.

It added administrators were taking steps to ensure the hotel was "fully operational" by Monday.

Dozens of businesses in the area have offered help and advice to the couple whose wedding has been cancelled.

Others have gone online to say they have been left wondering if a series of already sold-out Christmas events would actually happen.

But RSM UK's restructuring partner and joint administrator, Diana Frangou said the company's "immediate strategy is to stabilise the operating position to enable the hotel to trade."

She added: "Due to cashflow pressures, the directors took the hard decision to place the company into administration.

"Regretfully, and since taking on the administration, certain operational difficulties at the hotel have resulted in an unavoidable cancellation of some key events at the venue in the very short term.

"We are extremely sorry for the distress this has caused for all involved and are seeking to resolve this promptly and start trading again as soon as possible.

The cancellation of one wedding scheduled for the weekend was described as "unavoidably necessary" due to current "operational restrictions".

She said those with wedding and event bookings would be spoken to by the administrators and their representatives over the course of the next 24 hours.
