Cancer: End of treatment bell is 'symbol of hope'

A video of comedian Rhod Gilbert tearfully ringing a bell to mark the end of his cancer treatment went viral this week, prompting many to relive their own experiences.

For Richard Case, the day his son Cian proudly rang the bell in 2016 will always be a fond memory.

Cian died two years later at the age of six, after his cancer returned.

But Richard said the bell remained "a symbol of hope".

"There's ups and downs going through cancer treatment and you don't know whether you're going to make it - but you do have to have that hope," he said.
