Monmouth: Driver, 19, in custody after passenger killed

A 19-year-old motorist has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol after a passenger died in a car crash.
Gwent Police said it involved a silver Ford Fiesta on Staunton Road, Monmouth, at about 12:00 GMT on Sunday.
The passenger, who was also 19 and from Ceredigion, died at the scene, paramedics confirmed.
Police said the driver, who is also from Ceredigion, remains in custody.
Crews from the Welsh Ambulance Service, Wales Air Ambulance and South Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.
The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
