Carmarthenshire: River search under way for missing woman
- Published
Emergency services have begun a third day of searching a river in a bid to find a missing woman.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the 55-year-old, named only as Angharad, went missing from her home in Nantgaredig, Carmarthenshire, on Sunday.
She is described as white, about 5ft 1in, of medium build with brown hair and wearing blue jeans, blue jumper, and pink wellington boots.
She is considered high risk and police said they were "extremely concerned".
Firefighters said the search in and around the River Cothi, between Pontargothi and Dryslwyn, began on Sunday evening following reports of a person entering the water.
Emergency crews resumed the search on Tuesday morning after it was suspended overnight.
Superintendent Ross Evans thanked everyone who had offered to assist the search so far but asked people not put themselves in danger whilst trying to help, particularly during the hours of darkness.
"I am extremely grateful to everyone who has offered to search for Angharad, however I am very concerned that the terrain in the area is challenging," he said.
"I am therefore asking the public to have confidence in us and can assure them everything that can be done is being done.
"We are also supporting Angharad's family with specially trained officers during this very difficult time."
A mountain rescue team, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, a specialist police dive team and a helicopter have also been involved in the search.
Anyone who has seen Angharad is urged to contact Dyfed-Powys Police.
