A nightclub has said it is "absolutely heartbroken" after a 21-year-old woman died in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The woman was taken ill during a music event at Vaults Cardiff, which runs club nights in the old bank vaults at Portland House, Bute Street, in Butetown.
Police described the woman's death as "sudden and unexplained".
Vaults Cardiff expressed its "deepest condolences" in an Instagram post.
The club said: "As a venue, we are absolutely heartbroken due to the events of Friday night."
It said concerns were raised for an individual during the event "who was immediately taken to the onsite medic for medical assistance".
Paramedics arrived "within minutes", the club said, but "tragically the individual passed away despite every effort from the medical staff".
"We would like to send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the individual and offer our continued support during this tragic time," it added.
"Safety is our number one priority as a venue, and we will continue to implement our strict policies through our upcoming events."
South Wales Police said it was continuing to investigate the woman's death.
