A logistics and shipping company based in north Wales appears to have closed down, the local council has said.

Holyhead-based Gwynedd Shipping specialises in shipping, transport, warehousing and customs clearance for the construction and steel industries.

Reports on social media suggest drivers and other staff members have been made redundant, with some seeking new jobs.

An Anglesey council spokesperson said: "We are aware that the company has apparently entered into administration.

"We are currently trying to engage with the company to establish the current situation.

"The county council will provide what support it can to those affected, working in collaboration with Welsh government and other partners."
