The front of a disused chapel has collapsed, blocking the road outside and covering one car with rubble.

A large section of the 400-seater building on Chapel Terrace in Wattstown, Rhondda Cynon Taf, fell at about 18:30 GMT Monday.

Firefighters from South Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called, closing the road in both directions outside the building that dates back to 1906.

The adjoining Bailey Street and Lower Bailey Street were also shut.

South Wales Police advised motorists to avoid the area as disruption is expected for some time.
