Wales weather: Flood alerts amid heavy rain warning

A Met Office rain warning is in place until 09:00 on Sunday

Several flood alerts have been issued for rivers in Wales after a yellow weather warning for heavy rain came into force.

The Met Office warning started at 15:00 GMT on Saturday, lasted until 09:00 on Sunday, covering 17 Welsh counties.

Bus and train journeys are likely to take longer, the Met Office said, while there is also a chance of spray and flooding on roads.

Some interruption to power supplies and other services was likely, it added.

The forecaster warned of heavy rain in Blaenau Gwent, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Gwynedd, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Pembrokeshire, Powys, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Swansea, Torfaen and Vale of Glamorgan.

Natural Resources Wales issued a number of flood alerts, external, with flooding expected from the River Hoddnant at Boverton, and the River Ewenny at Ewenny Village in Vale of Glamorgan.
