Cardiff City: Brothers attacked Swansea City fan after late goal

The incident occurred when a Swansea fan was celebrating a late winner at the Cardiff City Stadium
Two Cardiff City fans who assaulted a rival fan have been given suspended sentences for affray and assault.
Brothers Cory and Steven Jones, 28 and 34, subjected Swansea fan Samuel Evans to a "barrage of blows" to the head.
The incident occurred in the home end on 1 April 2023 when Mr Evans was celebrating a late winner for Swansea at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Cory and Steven Jones were given 10 and 12-month jail terms respectively, both suspended for two years.
The pair were being sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court having earlier pleaded guilty.
Cory, a former Welsh Guard, and Steven, both of Mountain Ash, Rhondda Cynon Taf, will each pay £500 compensation to the victim and have been given a football banning order for five years.
'Bruised all over'
Judge Lucy Crowther told the brothers: "It must have been terrifying for people there - not least the security guards who had to step in to stop what was happening and you did not stop.
"Mr Evans was injured and had to go to hospital... he had a haematoma to the head and blurred vision, he was bruised all over and extremely shaken by this incident.
"He did nothing to you and did not deserve to be beaten."
The court was shown CCTV footage of the assault after the 99th minute goal, as well as a nearby fan's phone video.
The judge was told Mr Evans was punched 13 times in the head.
Judge Crowther was told both men, who were with their girlfriends, had been drinking.
Defence barrister Andrew Taylor said the brothers took full responsibility and that Steven Jones had felt "physically sick" when he saw the incident on video.
Mr Taylor also said their mum had passed away months before the incident, in February 2023.
"They drank too much as the funeral was close to the game and the combination of grief, drink and being annoyed had led to this outburst of wanton and serious violence."
He added: "They will not forget this ever, they are not hooligans."
