A young girl was rescued after she got stuck while playing on rocks at Tywyn beach, Gwynedd.

North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Welsh Ambulance Service were called to the scene at about 15:15 BST on 21 April.

Aberdyfi and Barmouth Coastguard, and air ambulance doctors were called, with specialist heavy lifting machinery used during the "complex rescue".

The child was rescued at 18:10, and was described as being "safe and well".

The coastguard has issued a warning to the public to be careful while playing on the rocks.

"As much as rock climbing can be fun, they are fraught with danger," a statement said.
