Thieves steal 19 road drain covers near Newtown

Nineteen cast-iron drain covers worth £6,500 have been stolen from rural roads near Newtown in Powys.
The covers were taken overnight in the Dolfor area, and Powys council has warned of a risk to motorists.
Last month, 14 storm drain covers were stolen from several trunk and country roads near Welshpool, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanfyllin and Meifod.
The council appealed for people with information to contact Dyfed-Powys Police.
Councillor Geraint Hopkins, who is responsible for roads, said: "I am appalled that anyone would do such a thing.
"There is a real risk of motorists driving over an exposed drain.
"Apart from the obvious damage to a vehicle an incident would cause, it could result in personal injuries or worse."
Mr Hopkins said at a time of severe budget cuts the thefts were an "unacceptable cost" to the taxpayer.
