Rape crisis centres to open in Aberystwyth and Newtown

Two new rape crisis centres will be opened in mid Wales next year.

The £121,000 UK government-funded suites will open in Aberystwyth in Ceredigion, and Newtown in Powys.

Dyfed-Powys Police currently has just one specialist centre, in Carmarthen.

Police commissioner Christopher Salmon said: "These facilities will ensure that victims of these horrific crimes will not have to travel excessive distances to receive the support they need."
