Bog snorkellers take up challenge in Llanwrtyd Wells
- Published
The Powys town of Llanwrtyd Wells hosted its annual bog snorkelling championships over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
The event attracted more than 150 competitors from as far afield as France, Germany, the USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand.
Last year the creator of bog snorkelling and wife-carrying events was given an outstanding achievement award for putting mid Wales on the tourism map.
Gordon Green, from Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys, launched the events after the decline of pony-trekking in the area in the 1970s, hosting other events like last year's World Alternative Games.
