£250,000 estimate for Hinterland's police HQ building

The council offices have been empty since 2009

The building used as the TV drama Hinterland's police station has been given a guide price of £250,000 ahead of its auction later this month.

Ceredigion's former council offices are one of Aberystwyth's landmark Victorian buildings.

The building has also been used as a magistrates' court, dental surgery, registry office and for county archives.

The Grade II-listed building started life as the Queen's Hotel in 1866.

Last year it was used by the BBC/S4C drama Hinterland as the location for the police station.

The building has been empty after council staff moved to new headquarters five years ago.

It was first put up for sale last autumn and will now be auctioned on 18 September in London.

The agents Allsop say there is "potential for redevelopment" and an option to buy surrounding land for £450,000.
