A primary school in Powys will shut at the end of the year following a council cabinet vote.
A petition to save Nantmel Church in Wales school, which has fewer than 50 pupils, was launched in November and more than 120 written responses were received.
Shutting the school near Llandridnod Wells is expected to save £54,000 a year, a report said.
Councillors voted on Thursday to close the school from 31 December.
Conservative MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, Chris Davies, who supported a campaign to save the school, said it was high-attaining and played a great role in village and church life.
"I have personally had the pleasure of visiting this school and it was clearly evident that the children's education and wellbeing was primarily at the forefront, and a common thread, which ran through the lessons and activities that were taking place," he said.
