Inquiry starts into Airbus worker's factory death

An Airbus worker has died following an incident in a maintenance garage at the wing-making factory in Broughton, Flintshire.

The man, named locally as 62-year-old Donny Williams from Buckley, was taken to hospital where he later died. The incident happened on Wednesday night.

A joint investigation has been launched by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and North Wales Police.

North east Wales coroner John Gittins has been informed.

Airbus Broughton site manager Paul McKinlay said: "Everyone at Broughton is deeply shocked and saddened by this tragic event.

"All our thoughts and sympathies are with his family and friends at this very difficult time.'

Det Chief Insp Steve Williams from North Wales Police said: "We are working with the HSE and a joint investigation is underway. The north east Wales coroner has been informed."
