Flintshire burst pipe leads to River Dee sewage spill

An Environment Agency investigation is under way after sewage spilled into the River Dee in Flintshire.
A burst pipe near Saltney has been pinpointed as the cause of the pollution incident.
Officers from the agency said they were working with staff from Dwr Cymru Welsh Water to halt further pollution on the Dee.
Samples are also being taken from river water, so the impact of the incident can be monitored.
"We'll remain on site and will continue to liaise with Dwr Cymru Welsh Water until we are satisfied that the repairs have been carried out and the discharge has stopped," said an Environment Agency spokesperson on Wednesday evening.
"We will investigate thoroughly into how this spill occurred and will consider what enforcement action we will need to take as a result."
