Three wards at Wrexham Maelor Hospital have been closed to new admissions following a high number of norovirus cases.
In total 11 patients have had symptoms of the winter vomiting bug in the past 48 hours, Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board said.
Additional infection control measures have been put in place.
Patients due to attend appointments and with symptoms are asked to telephone the ward for advice before visiting.
Visitors are being told to look out for notices and signs indicating affected areas and get advice from staff before entering.
The health board said babies and young children should not be taken onto wards, and visitors should wash their hands when entering and leaving.
Anyone suffering from diarrhoea, vomiting or an upset stomach in the last 48 hours is asked not to visit the hospital.
