A man has been taken to hospital following a house fire believed to have been started deliberately.

An investigation has been launched following the blaze at a property in Caia Park in Wrexham.

Fire crews were called to Bryn Hafod at 02:05 GMT and a man, 49, was taken to hospital suffering smoke inhalation.

North Wales fire service said the fire was confined to the letter box and is believed to have been started deliberately.

Crews had been called to the same street an hour earlier following reports of two separate fires in a car and a skip.

None of the incidents are thought to be linked at this stage.
