The proposal said the plant could be built and running by about 2018

Plans for a waste incinerator in Flintshire which could produce enough energy to power 30,000 homes have been rejected.

Councillors voted 10 to six against the proposal on Friday due to concerns about the facility's size and type.

The decision is expected to be referred back to the special planning committee.

The proposed plant at Deeside Industrial Park could process 200,000 tonnes of waste from Flintshire, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd and Anglesey.
