Schools at Llanfynydd and Flint Mountain face uncertain future

The future of two village primary schools continues to hang in the balance in Flintshire.
Ysgol Llanfynydd, external and Ysgol Maes Edwin, external at Flint Mountain have been marked for closure as part of Flintshire council's school modernisation programme, external.
On Wednesday, councillors recommended the option of setting up a federation be explored between Maes Edwin and another school to share functions.
They met to discuss the response to a public consultation on council plans.
The council's cabinet will meet later this month to discuss the next steps.
The future of Ysgol Gymraeg Mornant, Picton, is also being reviewed, external.
North Wales Assembly Member Mark Isherwood has backed opponents who claim the loss of Welsh medium Ysgol Gymraeg Mornant would have a "significant impact", external on the numbers of Welsh speakers in the area.
