20 cars submerged after high tide at Talacre, Flintshire

Up to 20 cars parked near a north Wales beach were submerged by the sea after being caught by a rising tide.

The vehicles were left under water after a 9m (29.5ft) high tide peaked at Talacre in Flintshire at about 12:40 BST.

They had been parked in a beach car park which is normally closed before a high spring tide.

The sea water later receded and many of the drivers have since been able to move their vehicles.

Holyhead Coastguard said a rescue team and North Wales Police were called to the car park.

Natural Resources Wales had earlier issued three flood warnings and four flood alerts for the Wye Valley, Usk estuary, the village of Crofty in north Gower, and the south Wales coast from Aberthaw to the Severn Bridge.
