A £20m poultry plant has been opened in Wrexham which will see 150 jobs created.

The Maelor Foods factory has been built on the site of the former First Milk plant that closed in 2014.

The business will begin processing poultry towards the end of the year and more than 70 of the jobs have already been filled.

It has been backed by a £3.15m grant from the Welsh Government.

Managing director Raj Mehta said the firm was "actively looking" for more local farmers to supply it with birds.

The factory was officially opened by Rural Affairs Secretary Lesley Griffiths, Economy Secretary Ken Skates and Wrexham's mayor, councillor John Pritchard, on Thursday.
