Man rescued after fall from boat at Penrhyn Mawr, Anglesey

A 68-year-old man has been airlifted to hospital after he fell out of his boat and was found in the sea by a kayaker.

A lifeboat was sent to help the man at Penrhyn Mawr on Anglesey after coastguards were alerted at 11:22 BST on Saturday.

He was taken to shore and taken by helicopter to Ysbyty Bangor with cuts, bruises and hypothermia.

Elsewhere, an elderly man was helped by coastguards at Porth Iago on the Llyn Peninsula after being found on rocks.

Holyhead Coastguard said the man was confused and wet when spotted by three kayakers at 10:52 BST on Saturday.

The Aberdaron life guard team managed to reach him to get a life jacket on him before the Porthdinllaen lifeboat reached him.

After being brought to shore he was assessed by a paramedic. His condition and other details are not yet known.

Meanwhile, Holyhead coastguard said the 64-year-old man who was rescued at Penrhyn Mawr might have been in the water "a long time" as he had hypothermia.

A spokeswoman also said he had cuts and bruises after being swept onto rocks by the tide.

He had been alone in his boat when he fell into the sea, she added.
