Missing walker Shayne Colaco: Snowdonia search resumes

A search has resumed for a man who has been missing in Snowdonia since Saturday.

A land and air search was called off late on Tuesday evening for Shayne Colaco, 33, from Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.

An experienced walker, he left his Fiat Seicento car at Ogwen Cottage on Saturday.

Twenty members of Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue took part in the hunt on Tuesday along with 15 RAF mountain rescuers.

North Wales Police want to hear from anyone who has seen Mr Colaco.

It is thought he planned to go from Llyn Ogwen to the summit of Tryfan, towards Cwm Bochlwyd via Llyn Bochlwyd and along the A5 to Capel Curig.

'Needle in a haystack'

Chris Lloyd from Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue said Tuesday's search continued until after dark.

He said Mr Colaco was reported missing by friends late on Monday evening before police alerted mountain search teams.

"It's very much a needle in a haystack," he told BBC Radio Wales.

"Yesterday we deployed over 30 people in the likely places he might be.

"Today people will be returning in a search in other areas.

"We do need more information about Shayne to give us information about where we should be concentrating our efforts.

"We have had a search of where he might have gone but, unfortunately, without success at the moment."

Police urged anyone with information to contact them on 101.
