Mountain rescuers interrupted their 40th anniversary celebrations to help a 72-year-old woman who fell on Snowdon.

The Llanberis Mountain Rescue Team were drawing a close to an event at their refurbished headquarters at Nant Peris on Saturday when they received a plea for help shortly before 16:00 BST.

They were able to call in a RAF rescue helicopter crew who airlifted the woman to hospital with minor head injuries.

The volunteers say they have been very busy this year due to the good weather.

But the team stood down en route to the scene as an RAF helicopter crew training in the area were able to respond.
