The site of a former abattoir on Anglesey has been put on the market for £1.5 million.

Vion closed its Welsh Country Foods site in Gaerwen in April with the loss of more than 325 jobs.

The site was later bought by the 2 Sisters Food Group but they decided they had no use for it.

The 29-acre site is being advertised as an operational red meat abattoir with lairage for 7,000 livestock.

The processing equipment and machinery is available to buy through separate negotiation.

When in use the factory had processed 640,000 lambs, making it the largest site of its kind in north Wales.

In October, 2 Sisters Food Group said it had taken the decision to sell the site following a review.

The company took over Vion's sister plant in Llangefni, where it has expanded its chicken processing operations.
