The foundations for a large wind farm off the north Wales coast have been completed.

Energy company RWE Innogy UK says the £2bn Gwynt y Mor project, near Llandudno in Conwy, is due to be operational this year.

It is the largest project of its kind being built in Europe and its 160 turbines will generate enough power for 400,000 homes, the company claims.

A spokesman said the foundations represented a "tremendous milestone".
