Anglesey councillors reject voluntary merger with Gwynedd

  • Published

Councillors on Anglesey have rejected a voluntary merger with neighbouring Gwynedd.

Members voted against proposals in response to the Welsh government's consultation on local government reform.

Council leader Ieuan Williams said mergers "won't be the answer to the huge financial cuts" authorities face.

A meeting will be sought with Public Services Minister Leighton Andrews to learn more about the merger process.
