The new ship, currently undergoing a refit, will be similar to this one, the Stena Superfast VIII

Ferry operator Stena Line is to change the ship it uses on its Holyhead to Dublin service with one that increases passenger numbers from 400 to 1,200.

It says the current vessel Stena Nordica will be replaced in early 2015 with the Stena Superfast X.

The new vessel will carry extra tonnage, with almost 2km of lane space for car and freight traffic.

This month the firm cancelled fast ferry HSS Stena Explorer services on the route during the Christmas period.
