300 job loss fears for Anglesey 2 Sisters poultry plant

Up to 300 jobs could be under threat at an Anglesey poultry factory.

Union leaders have been called to a meeting at the 2 Sisters poultry processing plant at Llangefni on Monday to discuss potential redundancies.

Around 800 people work at the site, including a number of agency workers.

The company confirmed some roles were at risk of redundancy as it looked to "simplify" its business to sustain the quality of its products.

"We appreciate the company has employed a large number of people from the area over the years and we want that to continue," said Aled Morris Jones, who holds the economic development brief on Anglesey council's cabinet.

He confirmed the authority would be talking part in talks with 2 Sisters and unions on Monday.
