A new app is helping to monitor red squirrels in north Wales by keeping track of their location.

The Squirrel Location Map allows people to pinpoint the area where they have spotted the native rodent.

The smartphone app was designed by Llandudno-based company Livetech in conjunction with Red Squirrels Trust Wales.

It follows the success of a project which boosted the red squirrel population on Anglesey.

Livetech managing director Paul Levy said the app would allow people to "engage with Red Squirrels Trust Wales" and to share and access information.
