North Wales Police's chief constable helped catch a speeding motorist, a court has heard.

Mark Polin was driving along the A55 in Bangor, Gwynedd, when a silver Vauxhall Vectra raced past him.

He called the control room and followed the car, which sped at more than 90mph, until officers caught up and took over.

Driver Michael Anthony Collins, 21, from Manchester, admitted speeding and was fined £265 at Flintshire Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Magistrates in Mold were told that Mr Polin followed the speeding driver for more than half a mile and gave him "words of advice" when he was pulled over on 5 March.

Collins was also ordered to pay £101 in costs.
